Initially released in June 2015 under the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WTFPL WTFPL] version 2<ref>[http://www.ctrl-c.club/~philips/90s/index.html#bake-is-out bake is out], 2015-06-04.</ref> the code was ported from C to C++ in 2016<ref>[http://ctrl-c.club/~philips/index.html#lang-8 A little update on baker's situation], 2016-02-11.</ref>.

bake intends to work similar to [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Make_(software) Make] in that a "bakefile" contains basic rules and metadata bake follows when generating blog posts.

bake is installed system wide on Ctrl-C Club<ref>[http://ctrl-c.club/news.html Ctrl-C Club news]</ref>.
